Services

We offer mobility-impaired and disabled persons the assistance service in accordance with the provisions of the EU regulations. If you require an assistance service at Zurich Airport, you must register this with the airline or your tour operator when booking your flight or at least 48 hours before departure.

At the same time, please inform them of the degree to which you are restricted in your freedom of movement. The early registration serves the timely forwarding of the information to the support service. It is not possible to book directly with us. Our service is of course free of charge and available during the opening hours of Zurich Airport.

In accordance with the Code Of Conduct for Ground Services for persons with disability and/ or reduced mobility, of the European Civil Aviation Conference, specific codes are being used in aviation to define the kind of service that should be offered to passengers with disability and/ or reduced mobility when travelling by air.

WCHR

Passengers who can only walk short distances and who can walk up and down stairs.

FAQ

How to book Assistance at Zurich airport?

Should you require assistance at Zurich airport, please notify your Air Carrier / Agent / Tour Operator at least 48 hours before the published time of your departure flight. This early notification serves the purpose of forwarding the information about your assistance needs to the service provider on time. Please note that direct booking with Goldair-AAS Assistance is not possible.

What if I'm travelling with my own wheelchair?

Please inform your Air Carrier either at the time of booking or during the check in that you are travelling with your own wheelchair. Your own wheelchair may be delivered to the airline to be loaded in the aircraft hold at the gate prior to boarding. If you are travelling with an electric wheelchair, it is recommended to notify your Air Carrier at least 48 hours before the published time of the departure flight.

During your departure:

On condition that you hold a valid flight ticket and irrespective of your flight destination, on the day of your flight present yourself at the designated Pick Up Points located at Check In 1, Check In 2 and Check In 3, at the time stipulated in advance by the Air Carrier / Agent / Tour Operator. If the time has not been communicated to you, you should present yourself at least two (2) hours before the published time of your departure flight, irrespective of the flight’s destination. All designated Pick Up Points are equipped with telecommunication means to enable the disabled passengers and passengers with reduced mobility to communicate their arrival at Zurich airport.

Before your trip:

Please make sure that you notify the Air Carrier / Agent / Tour Operator of your need and type of assistance at least 48 hours before the published departure or arrival time of your flight. The Air Carrier shall inform accordingly at least 36 hours before the published time of departure or arrival of the flight. Whenever a use of a recognized assistance dog is required, this shall be accommodated provided that the notification is made to the Air Carrier / Agent / Tour Operator at least 48 hours before the published time of the departure or arrival of the flight is in accordance with the applicable national regulations covering the carriage of assistance dogs on board an aircraft.

How much does it cost?

As per the stipulations of the Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2006, the on-ground assistance to disabled passengers and passengers with reduced mobility are provided at no additional charge.

Definition

“Disabled person” or “person with reduced mobility” means any person whose mobility when using transport is reduced due to any physical disability (sensory or locomotor, permanent or temporary), intellectual disability, or age, and whose situation needs appropriate attention and the adaptation to his or her particular needs of the service made available to all passengers.

  • Goldair AAS Assistance AG

Goldair AAS Assistance AG was founded on October 7, 2019 and is a joint venture with 60% participation of the Greek Goldair Handling S.A. and 40% participation of the Swiss Airline Assistance Switzerland AG. Goldair AAS Assistance AG has been providing services to mobility-impaired and disabled passengers at Zurich Airport since January 1, 2020.

Goldair Handling S.A. is a 100% Greek private provider of ground handling services, offering passenger, ramp, aircraft and cargo services, among others. The company was founded in 1992.Goldair Handling's shareholders are the Goldair Group of Companies (51%) and Ground Dynamic Partners (49%).The company also offers airline representation, flight monitoring, crew services, PRM assistance services, VIP, executive aviation and airport lounge and consulting services. Currently, the company provides its ground handling services at 31 airports in three countries (Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria).

  • Airline Assistance Switzerland AG (AAS) based in Zürich

Airline Assistance Switzerland AG was founded on October 27, 2003 as "Hahn Air Schweiz AG" and received a self-handling authorization from Zurich Airport in the same year.

In the summer of 2004, "Hahn Air Schweiz AG" applied for a third-party handling authorization in the non-restricted area and was granted this by Flughafen Zürich AG as of January 1, 2005.

As of July 1, 2005, the company also applied for and received a third-party handling authorization in the restricted area for baggage handling and apron services.

On February 5, 2008, the company was sold to a group of investors. After the change of ownership, the name was changed to "Airline Assistance Switzerland AG" and the share capital was increased accordingly. Since January 1, 2020, AAS also performs ground handling services at Vienna Airport.
